March 10, 2017, Broken Bow, NE – The 4th Annual Have a Heart Food Bank Challenge, organized by Adams Land & Cattle, LLC (ALCC) asked local businesses and organizations around Custer County to make a difference for local Food Banks. The Challenge, open to area businesses, schools, and civic organizations and held February 14th-28th, provided donated food and other needed items to four local Food Pantries.
In all, over 34 Custer County businesses and organizations participated, collecting 4,662 items for our Food Banks. These items, including food, personal hygiene items, paper products, and household cleaning items, were distributed among local Food Banks to assist them with necessary restocking of their shelves.
Area organizations were encouraged to compete against other organizations for the title of “Heart of Custer County Winners”, awarded to the organization within each category that donated that highest quantity of items. This year’s winners include:
Big Business: Custer Public Power, 378 items
Small Business: Great Western Bank, 173 items
Schools: North Park Elementary, 1,373 items
Service Groups/Clubs: Kingdom Kids and CIA, 689 items
Churches: Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 62 items
“We’re incredibly proud to be part of this effort by our community to assist our area foodbanks, which are such a vital assist to many of our citizens,” said CEO for ALCC, Jerry Adams. “We truly appreciate everyone who participated and made an impact by giving back to the community in this way.”
The Have a Heart Food Bank Challenge, originally created in 2014 through the Custer County Leadership, has been sponsored and organized by ALCC for the past three years.
